Harvard don Kaplan to receive Birla award on Nov 9

New Delhi: Management guru Robert S. Kaplan will be conferred the second Global Management Guru Award (GMGA), instituted by the Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) here Nov 9.

Kaplan, a strong votary of effective strategy execution and creator of “You can’t manage what you don’t measure” mantra, will also address business, industry and government officials as part of the award ceremony.

“My recent work on risk management emanate from a fundamental belief that valid and accurate measurement is at the core of communicating, implementing and monitoring an organization’s strategy whether in the private, public, or NGO sector,” Kaplan said.

“It is a pleasure to accept the 2012 Global Management Guru Award (GMGA) most generously offered to me,” a BIMTECH statement quoted Kaplan as saying.

Kaplan is Marvin Bower Professor of Leadership Development – Emeritus at Harvard Business School.
