A tug-boat has arrived to help free a ferry that is stuck on a sandbar in Lake Erie near Kingsville, south of Windsor. The Jiimaan was carrying 18 passengers and 15 crew members, along with heavy loads of soybeans and grapes when it came to a stop due to low water levels about 60 metres from shore.Divers are inspecting the ferry’s hull with investigators from the Transportation Safety Board and Transport Canada.
Passengers and crew spent the night on the ferry. The youngest passenger is said to be an infant travelling with her father. Rising water levels changed rescue plans.
