Brampton: Chunqi Jiang, 40, of Toronto has been charged in death of Hua Guang Liu and he appeared in Brampton court this morning.
Peel Police say he is a construction labourer and the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Sept. 10.
Liu, a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent, was a single mother of three and a licensed body-rub practitioner at the Forget-Me-Not spa which she owned. The Scarborough resident lived in a townhouse complex with her grown son and a basement tenant on Huntingwood Drive near Kennedy Road.
Liu, was reported missing from her home in the city’s east end on Aug. 11. Last week Peel police confirmed it was her remains that had been recovered from a river in Mississauga and a creek in Toronto.
Peel Regional Police held a press conference on Monday to reveal new details into the grisly death.
