Toronto: A former Oshawa, city councillor Robert Lutczyk is reportedly in police custody after a 28-hour police standoff in Whitby area that began after a city solicitor David Potts was allegedly abducted at gun point.Police confirmed that the suspect is believed to be former Oshawa city councillor Robert Lutczyk.
The kidnapping drama that started on Tuesday at a Whitby auto shop has ended peacefully after almost 28 hours.Potts was said to be kidnapped outside his Courtice home and driven around .The kidnapping was so swift and silent that the victim was led away from his home at gunpoint without his wife or neighbours hearing a sound.
The investigation into the incident led police to the auto repair business where, around 2 a.m. Tuesday, the standoff began. The repair shop is located at 401 Hopkins Rd., an industrial area of Whitby.
Robert Lutczyk,was known for making controversial and fantastic claims during his time in office.
Hopkins Road was closed during the standoff, but is now open to traffic. Police have scheduled a news conference today to reveal more details about the incident.
