Inquest announced in deaths of Reyal Jardine-Douglas, Sylvia Klibingaitis and Michael Eligon

Vancouver: Dr. Bert Lauwers, Deputy Chief Coroner for Inquests, today announced that an inquest will be held into the deaths of Reyal Jardine-Douglas, Sylvia Klibingaitis and Michael Eligon.

Jardine-Douglas, 25 , died on August 29, 2010. Klibingaitis, 52 , died on October 7, 2011. Eligon,  29 , died on February 3, 2012.

All three individuals died of gunshot wounds sustained when they approached police officers while carrying edged weapons, and all may have been experiencing the effects of a mental disorder at the time of their deaths.

The inquest will examine the events surrounding the three deaths. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
