Toronto: A Special Investigation Unit, probe has resulted in criminal charges against three Toronto police officers accused of assaulting a man during an arrest last June.
Detective Constable Jason Davis, Detective Constable Keith Osborne and Detective Brian Kay have each been charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm.
A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital and diagnosed with three fractured ribs after he was arrested by police near Kipling Avenue and Finch Avenue West and lodged in a cell June 4, the Special Investigations Unit said in a release.
There was an interaction between the man, identified as Stalin Kiprotich, and police during the arrest, the SIU said.
The first court appearance of these police officers will be on October 9.
