Woman and child found dead in possible murder-suicide in Varsity

Calgary:Calgary police is investigating after death of a young boy and an adult woman in the northwest community of Varsity.

Police were called to a townhouse complex in the 3500 block of Varsity Drive N.W. and they found the two bodies.Murder-suicide angle is also being probed.

The investigation has been handed over to homicide detectives and the area has been cordoned off to secure the evidence.Some media reports indicate that carbon monoxide was somehow involved as some of the home’s windows are smashed out.
A father called 911 when he returned to his Varsity condo around 9:45 p.m. to find his wife and 7-year-old boy dead inside the home. Emergency crews rushed to the scene and major crimes investigators were called in .
Insp. Darren Leggatt said in a statement that a woman and seven-year-old were found dead inside.Police say it appears the deaths were not accidental.
Windows in the condo unit were smashed by first responders, and it is alleged carbon monoxide levels in the home were very high when crews arrived.
Police is going to wait for result of autopsies before reaching at any conclusion.
The police Victim Assistance Support Team has been called to provide support to family and friends of the victims.No names or other information has been released at this time.
