New Delhi:A day before Sunday’s cabinet reshuffle, three more ministers have resigned.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahai and Social Justice Minister Mukul Wasnik met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and submitted their papers.
Soni confirmed her resignation to IANS. Sahai’s resignation was confirmed by a close aide.
These resignations come a day after S.M. Krishna put in his papers as external affairs minister Friday.
Sahai’s close aide told IANS that the former minister will now focus on party work.
“He will be taking up a more active role in the party organisation,” the aide said.
Social Justice Minister Mukul Wasnik, meanwhile, told reporters Saturday that he had also submitted his resignation Friday evening.
“I have already submitted my resignation to the Prime Minister on Friday evening,” Wasnik said, after meeting Manmohan Singh Saturday.
According to government sources, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Mahadev Khandela also resigned Saturday.
A cabinet reshuffle is scheduled for 11.30 a.m. Sunday.
