Gregory Matters was the man shot by police in Prince George

Vancouver:The man shot and killed during a confrontation with RCMP in Prince George, B.C. has been identified as 40-year-old Gregory Matters.

Coroner Barbara McLintock, who revealed the identity, did not release details about the cause of death.

Police said Matters was the subject of a police investigation, and on Monday Mounties located him at his property on Pinko Road.An altercation at the scene led to the suspect being shot and killed.

SIU was called to investigate.Court documents show Matters received one day in jail and nine month’s probation after being convicted for uttering threats in June 2011.
