Moga: Punjab DGP Sumedh Singh Saini has reverted 37 cops who were promoted out of way by former Punjab Director-General of Police (DGP) Paramdeep Singh Gill,to gain political mileage in the last assembly elections from the Moga constituency.
Gill had fought assembly elections from Moga seat on Akali ticket but lost.
Saini has passed orders reverting as many as 37 Head Constables whose promotions were endorsed by Gill.
Head Constables Amarjit Singh, Surinder Singh, Gobind Singh, Satpal Singh and Gurpal Singh, who were promoted as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and posted in Moga district, had been asked to wear the Head Constable’s uniform or else be prepared to face legal action.
Two of them, Gobind Singh and Surinder Singh, were deployed with PS Gill’s cousin Micky Gill. Amarjit Singh was the driver of the Station House Oficer (SHO) of the Moga City (I) police station.
Saini had also sent back several police officials of the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) who were posted SHOs by Gill.
