Gidderbaha SHO among four cops suspended

Muktsar:Gidderbaha SHO (station house officer) in Punjab,among 4 police officials have been suspended in connection with custodial death of a woman identified as Jaspreet Kaur of Kotli Ablu village.

According to reports, Jaspreet Kaur humiliated at being dragged to a police station for an extra-marital ties, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at the Kot Bhai police station in Muktsar yesterday.

She was taken into police custody in connection with suicide by her husband Sarabjit Singh, a resident of Kotli Ablu village.While the police claim that she ended her life by consuming poison, Jaspreet’s kin have alleged that she died due to brutal beating in police custody.

They also alleged that no woman police was present at the time of Jaspreet’s arrest.
