Chandigarh: Charu Mehta, a third year student of Punjab Engineering College (PEC) residing in Panchkula, who had met with a road accident on the PEC premises on October 11, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. The victim, Charu Mehta (21), was staying in hostel and was a student of production engineering.
She was hit by an Alto car (CH-01AD-1711) driven by accused Vishal, while she was going to have lunch in the hostel mess.
The accused, Vishal, is a first year student of PEC. He was arrested on Sunday morning and later released on bail. He was booked for causing death due to negligent driving under section 304A of the IPC. Vishal was driving his friend’s car. Charu’s family claimed that he was driving recklessly at high speed.
A pall of gloom descended on Charu’s residence with relatives and friends trying to comfort the distraught parents.
