Depressed Indo-Canadian student commits suicide

Raunak Singh Suicide ChandigarhToronto: In a tragic incident, an Indo-Canadian student Raunak Singh reportedly shot himself in India, just hours before his return flight to Canada. The 21-year-old Sector 40, Chandigarh resident, who was reportedly under depression and was reluctant to return to Canada, shot himself with an illegal weapon at his relative’s house in Phase 4 in Mohali.

Raunak Singh, took the extreme step during visit to his aunt ,where he shot himself in the head in the bathroom of the house with a country-made pistol.

In the suicide note, Raunak said he was under depression and nobody was to be blamed for that.

He had been studying in Toronto, Canada, since November last year and had come home for vacations in August and was scheduled to return recently, but fate had something more in store for him.

His mother, Charanjit Kaur, had also come to his aunt’s house to see him off but he sent her back to Chandigarh, saying that she would not be able to see him go away.

Raunak was rushed to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. He is survived by his mother and sister.

Police is also probing about the illegal weapon.
