Ridge Meadows: The Ridge Meadows RCMP received a 911 call just after 2:15 am on July 9, 2012 for a male in medical distress.

RCMP attended the scene in the 11700 block of Carshill Street in Maple Ridge as did BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) and Maple Ridge Fire Services.

Medical personnel performed CPR on the 59 year old resident of the home, but despite all attempts to revive him the victim was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The scene has been secured and IHIT is working in conjunction with the Ridge Meadows RCMP to determine what lead up to the victim’s death.

“It appears that the victim may have been involved in some sort of domestic incident prior to his death. Investigators are attempting to determine the relevance of this incident and any connections it may have with his death,” says Sgt. Jennifer Pound.

Although an autopsy will be required to determine the victim’s cause of death, investigators are treating this as a homicide investigation. There have been no arrests made at this point and investigators will be working throughout the day to process the scene and obtain further evidence.
