One man dead after Deerfoot Trail crash

Calgary: A man was killed in a car crash on Deerfoot Trail just north of 32nd Avenue N.E. Thursday evening.

The driver of a southbound car, black Saab veered off the roadway into the grassy centre median, where the car hit a pole, police say.Police said the 35-year-old man was the lone occupant in the vehicle.Police have been reportedly told that the car was speeding and driving dangerously before the crash.The lone male driver had to be cut out of the vehicle by firefighters.He was rushed to Foothills Hospital but he succumbed to injuries.

A portion of the highway was closed for several hours .The Traffic Unit is investigating the crash.
