According to a medical bulletin issued on Monday by the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Dara Singh is said to be very critical and he is undergoing dialysis in bid to get his kidney's to function.
“He is extremely critical. He is still on ventilator and needs a high level of oxygen. His kidneys are not functioning the way they should, so we have to put him on dialysis,” said Dr Ram Narain, COO, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
Dara Singh, who has over 500 professional fights to his credit, played the role of Hanuman in the television adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayan. He also worked in some television serial shows, including Had Kar Di, which was aired on Zee TV. He has acted in over 100 films.
There are reports of wrestlers praying for speedy recovery of Dara Singh at Alamgir (ludhiana), Amritsar and Patiala akharas.
Yesterday, the 83-year-old actor's son Vindu had also said that his father was serious. Incidentally, Dara Singh is the third Bollywood star to be hospitalized recently, following actor and BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha and superstar Rajesh Khanna, who have both been in hospital for over a week now.
